FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an optical turnstile?

An optical turnstile uses infrared or laser sensors to detect and count pedestrians passing through a lane. Unlike mechanical turnstiles, optical turnstiles use motorized swing barriers or retractable flaps rather than rotating arms, providing a sleek appearance suited to corporate lobbies, data centres, and high-end facilities.

What is the GB-1 Optical Turnstile?

The GB-1 is Turnstile Security's 6000 series swing barrier optical turnstile. It combines state-of-the-art optical sensors with motorized glass or polycarbonate panels to provide secure bi-directional access control. It is ideal for corporate foyers, data centres, government buildings, and fitness centres.

What passage widths are available?

The GB-1 is available in passage widths from 25" (635mm) to 36" (915mm), accommodating standard pedestrian flow as well as wider lanes for accessibility compliance.

Can the GB-1 detect tailgating?

Yes. The advanced optical sensor array detects the exact position of each user and identifies tailgating attempts in real time. An audio and visual alarm is triggered when an unauthorized passage attempt is detected.

What access control systems does the GB-1 integrate with?

The GB-1 integrates with all major access control platforms including Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Honeywell, Bosch, Gallagher, and CCURE. It supports card readers, biometric readers, QR codes, and mobile credentials.

What panel materials are available?

Swing panels are available in tempered glass, organic glass, and polycarbonate. All panel options can be colour customized, and glass etching is available upon request for branded or architectural installations.
