A drop arm turnstile is a 3-arm waist-high turnstile where the centre arm is designed to drop down (collapse) in the event of an emergency or power failure, creating a clear, unobstructed passage for rapid evacuation. How does the drop arm mechanism work?
The centre arm is connected to a solenoid release mechanism. When power is cut or an emergency signal is received from the fire control panel, the solenoid releases and the arm drops to a horizontal position, allowing free flow of pedestrians through the lane.
